If you’re here, you’re likely familiar with structurally insulated panels–or SIPs. In essence, what you’ve got is a panel with OSB on the outside, studs and styrofoam on the inside. They’re thick, strong, fast–but expensive. Maybe they save money over the long haul–but up front, we’re talking tens of thousands of dollars more than your traditional stick frame construction. It’s too bad really, because panel construction is the way of the future. Homes and other buildings built with panels are typically better built and more efficient.

Now, with traditional framing and with SIPs construction the above are bullets are still a big concern. How many people do you know who have had a fire? I was six when my parents home caught on fire (thankfully I wasn’t home!). With the PermaPanel, fires can be a thing of the past. I’ll get to how in a moment.

When your home floods, it’s not just drying everything out–most of your subfloors are made with particle board which can’t withstand water without disintegrating, neither can drywall–and then of course there’s warpage that you have to worry about. If not then there’s the mold, especially if you’re in a humid area like Washington. But with the PermaPanel? you guessed it.

Here’s how:

The PermaPanel is like SIPs in that it’s a structurally insulated panel–but instead of using wood, the PermaPanel utilizes a specialized cellular concrete, formed into interlocking panels. What results is basically a monolithic structure. With concrete–you don’t have to worry about fires. With our specialized cellular concrete, you don’t have to worry about floods either. Typically after about thirty minutes, non-sealed concrete can become saturated with water. It takes around five-and-a-half hours of submersion before a PermaPanel would begin to absorb the water.
